I'm in the market for a new DSLR and some lenses and was wondering what focal length and f/stop you guys were shooting. I'm looking at a Nikon f/2.8 80-200mm on a Nikon body. ****'s expensive tho. I used to shoot sports for my university and never needed more than 200mm across a football field @ f/2.8

I'm using a D300 with battery grip, Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VR (great for sports and portraits), Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 (good all around lens), Nikon 10.5mm 2.8 fisheye, Nikon 50mm 1.4 (great for indoor low light situations). I shoot a lot of the english horse riding stuff my girlfriend does and the D300 with the 70-200mm 2.8 VR works great for the dark indoor arenas. I was shooting at 3200 iso today in a dark arena and the pics look really good with very minimal noise.
I have a D80 that is basically brand new for sale. Give me a call if your interested. I'll give you a good deal. Or if you just want to try out some stuff before you buy come by the house sometime and you can try out all my lenses and stuff.
