No Vin # on bike = bad?
I recently ran into a guy who has a 04 f4i and he has no title due to the fact the last guy had a salvage title and sold the bike to him for a stunt bike and didnt include the salvaged title which made no sense to me? anyways I wasnt worried about it cause I was going to have the vin # on the frame ran by a police officer to make sure the bike wasn't hot before I purchased the bike. however the vin has been scratched off. In michigan or any state I believe it's illegal to even have a bike with the vin # scratched off. so I didnt buy the bike. I am not sure however and wanted some input on this matter.

Re: No Vin # on bike = bad?
That's what I thought, thanks. I was trying to get this help from a guy I met before who is a local stunt rider around here but my friend would not give me his number because he doesn't like his number being given out to people he has only met once, I guess. people these days, everyone I meet is either a thief, a felon or just a terrible person in life doing things only for personal gain. I am just an honest person trying to buy a motorcycle for cheap and fix it since the economy sucks and I figured there would be people trying to get rid of stuff since they need money too. So far everything is over-priced junk or stolen.

dude...**** the law..........steal the bike......if the owner scratched the vin he ain't gonna be able to call the cops on you...............ride the **** out of it...if the cops chase you, ditch the bike, they can't read the vin can't trace it...you're good......
sounds like a free pass to be an ******* to me lol

Re: No Vin # on bike = bad?
lol well like i said, im an honest person for the most part so i wouldnt steal it. The guy is on stuntlife here and thats where i found the bike. I'm just trying to figure out if this bike is going to get my in trouble or not, cause i dunno about the engine and vin numbers on it and what not so if i did get a new titled frame and put it on there the engine still could be illegal and then i get fucked and my bike that i have dumped money into is gone.

Re: No Vin # on bike = bad?
lol, well I mean anyone who answers this has HOPEFULLY either been in this situation once before and therefore no all about it now. Or I am talking to police who know the laws or should. The smart criminals who know all about the laws they are willing to be breaking. I like talking to the police because they are the ones who know how to do this kind of thing legal. The way I'm trying to do it. I am a pretty smart young man who wants to start getting these cheap bikes and fixing them and selling them. I was going to give the police the vin number but they wont do it over the phone. so then I was going to have them come out to check the vin number. Well that wasnt needed because over the phone before i even got there to see the bike he let me know there was no vin but assured me it wasnt stolen. I simply just cant afford to get in trouble when im looking to get into this legaly.why not do it legal if i can and still maybe make a few hundo doing something i love. I dont love it enough to break the law I guess, lol.

Re: No Vin # on bike = bad?
well i could buy a titled frame to install and that's what i want to do but in the end i don't want to fund the market for stolen bikes and i believe that's what i would be doing.
