Re: wtb powers cage f4i
The main reason why I only want a powers cage is because every other brand of cage has the main slider bolted directly to the engine mount, which ofcorse is made of cast, which cracks easy. the new style powers has a plate that spreads the impact load over a larger area of the frame. most importantly the powers cages main slider does not bolt directly to the engine mount--I love my f.i. cage but they are junk(frame and engine killers)----Im sure other cages are great on other bikes-but not on an f4i---to tell you the truth I hate the big bulky cage design, but its the only one that protects the frame and engine best

your old style poweres cage is a frame and engine killer, thats why powers changed it----examine the new style and try to understand what im talking about--get that old style one off, why you have a chance!

Re: wtb powers cage f4i
here's an example of the tyger shark slider bolted directly to the engine(same **** as an f.i. cage) those springs inside dont do **** once they are compressed(which will compress fully and stay compressed the second the slider contacts the ground,so whats the sense)

Re: wtb powers cage f4i
Mine is the new design. Look at my picture. Then look at yours. Or one that is not that old design at least. 2 bikes around here have that old design. Its ugly anyways. But that old design Powers didn't ever let the bike roll up on it's top. This one does. Is there a newer design than what I have? I ran FI for the last 3 years. Until I finally hit hard once and it still cracked my stator cover. I got this Powers for a steal. It mounts on the bottom engine mount instead of the top. And connects like the SI down in the front. But you say TS are not good. I have 3 friends that run TS. They all love them. And drift with NO problems. The springs are fully extended at all times. Except for the instant it hits. Where the spring load is needed. Then it rests on a fully extended puck. This Powers gets in my way of drifting sometimes. And I didn't even slam that hard. Yet this new one already bent on the mount that goes over the radiator hose. I would only run a SI or Tygershark after this. And we aren't squids either. So they are tested by XDL competitors and people paid to ride. So not hatin at all,(because I actually love this cage minus it's few wrong things), but it's definitely nowhere near a SI or TS. Got every kind of cage in site at the spot. The only one I would never run is the StuntAid. But everyone should already know that.

And your Tygershark pic is because someone hit the ground at high speed and it hit a curb or something. Or it's not the strongest TS cage. But it looks like the Apex model. I've seen that happen before. And I've seen Tygershark's hit hard as ****! No damage. Hit the ground at 40+ on any cage, and things are gonna get mashed 99% of the time.

And just so you know, this Powers is also directly mounted to an engine mount. It's just lower under the frame curve. Not much difference in structural integrity on that mount than the previous. The old style had the same kind of plate that sits on the frame to take the hit. Just different spots.

Are you sure you have the new one or just guesstamating? I called powers and asked them which one they have now and they sent me the pic you see below. If yours is the new one then I dont want it anymore because I want that frame plate. really the only other cage I would consider is s.i..---if you find any info ,could you let me know--thanks--I gotta get to the bottom of this before I spend a whopping $300+

Yeah, mine is the same one in that pic. Go with SI. Save yourself the trouble. I'll even get pics when I get a sec of where it bent already. I actually like the design. But seeing how much it doesn't take to bend it, I'll go with something else next time.
