you can get an 03-04 gsxr 1000 for around $5k why bother..

an 06 r1 frame is going to be least $2k if your lucky

If you're willing to go through the hassle, you could always do a mechanics or storage lien on it & get the title. Its typically a 6 wk pain in the ***, but you would have a clean title instead of having to buy a frame.
