Dude , a 90's camaro is so played out it ain't funny . They really didn't even get the hp they deserved till the last few years made of that body . And i bet this new camaro will be smaller in length , width , and also in weight (not by much , but it will) than a 90's camaro .

Re: Camero Concept? OVER. Now a reality as of 4pm today.

The new camaro will be out this spring.. as for option packages.. its only a persons un-informed opinion the there wont be an ss, there will be.. , .. no announcement has officially made as to all the options.. but you can count on a mustang whupping ls3-based powertrain (422hp).. and a few more suprises I cannot disclose..

Re: Camero Concept? OVER. Now a reality as of 4pm today.

from the camaro page..

Performance
  • A 3.6L DI VVT V6 engine with a projected 300 hp and manual six-speed transmission is standard on LS and LT models. Choose the available six-speed automatic with TAPshift to achieve an estimated 26 mpg highway1
  • A 6.2L V8 with a projected 400 hp with six-speed automatic transmission with TAPshift includes Active Fuel Management technology to achieve 23 mpg highway1
  • For the top-of-the-line, the 6.2L V8 with manual six-speed transmission produces a projected 422 hp

not true! the 67-69 302ci Z/28's had more horse power than the ss big block cars and were respected as such, but GM underrated them to 290hp (a common practice back then) stock 302 engines on engine dyno's have produced ~400 HP.. the biggest big block availble in an ss was a 396ci 375HP.. and many in 69 had 350 small blocks
(now Im not including the Ultra-rare non SS COPO 427 crs or ZL1 cars.. and also excluding the after the fact conversions by the the likes of berger and yenko... )

1967-1969: L26 230 cid (3.8 L) 230 I6 140 hp (104 kW)

1967-1969 Z28: 302 cid (4.9 L) Small-Block V8 290 hp (rated) 390-400 hp actual
1967-1969: LF7 327 cid (5.4 L) Small-Block V8 210 hp (157 kW)
1967-1968: L30 327 cid (5.4 L) Small-Block V8 275 hp (205 kW)
1969: LM1 & L65 350 cid (5.7 L) Small-Block V8 255 hp (190 kW) and 250 hp (185 kW)

So right! The LT1 and LT4 camaros are not as well as they are cracked up to be but the LS1 does work. The LS1 was 98-02. The SS package with the LS1 was only slp exhaust so not making too much more HP than a "stock" LS1. It's all about potential.
