Re: New GMs
thats why i love american cars.. best quality-price ratio ive ever seen
the problem is that you guys dont care about the gas hehe his price in the states is cheap so if you want power you just go and buy a hemi 6.1 liters (like the challenger). gas in europe is very expensive thats why we need to use gas-oil and diesel.. if this problem didnt exist i would import a challenger right now
maybe someday.. just for the weekend rides.. who knows

Basic CONCEPT will be the same. They will be a little different for production due to issues with meeting legal requirements and manufacturability.
Re: New GMs
Updated: GM’s Chevrolet division can’t sit idle as the retro Ford Mustang gobbles up sales, so it’s frantically readying its own muscle car for sale in early 2009.
BY JARED GALL, August 2006
We knew it all along, but now the news is official: Chevrolet’s answer to the original pony-car salvo is being reloaded and will go into production as early as 2008. It’ll be aimed at showrooms in 2009. The official announcement came from GM Chairman Rick Wagoner in Traverse City, Michigan.
The car will be built on GM’s revived Zeta platform, originally intended for a series of full-size rear-wheel-drive cars but shelved last year after being deemed too expensive. This platform features an independent rear suspension, unlike the Ford Mustang. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be offered, and power for the resurrected Camaro will come from a base V-6 and two V-8s. We hope one of them will bear the letters LS and a whole number greater than 6; Chevy’s current top production engine is the 505-hp LS7 found in the Corvette Z06.
No word yet on exactly where the car will be built—official word is “North America”—but speculation is that GM’s plants in Oshawa, Ontario or Wilmington, Delaware, are strong possibilities.

These are supposedly the official pics. of the camaro convertible .
Notice the wheel change .
I don't think we will get the huge wheels on the first concept
This is a link to lots of pictures taken this week at The Detroit Auto Show .
I Don't know how long the link will be up , so save the pics to your comp.

It didn't take rocket science, or the brain power of that guy who kept winning Jeopardy, to deduce that GM would follow-up its much-praised Chevy Camaro Coupe concept with a ragtop version.
The production Camaro is still more than a year away, so to keep interest in the company's pony car strong, this drop-top concept will take center stage on GM's Texas-sized display at the Detroit auto show.
To our eyes, chopping the top makes the Camaro look even more smokin' than before. While the coupe was cool, this has cruisin' down Pacific Coast Highway written all over it. You can bet GM CEO Rick Wagoner already has the keys for next summer's Woodward Dream Cruise.
The conversion from coupe to convertible may look like a simple chop-job, it involved modifying most of the bodywork aft of the doors so as to make space for a folding roof. The windshield was also re-jigged -- it's higher in the middle and lower at the corners -- and features a shiny billet-aluminum frame.
Designer Brian Smith says he envisages a simple cloth top with a glass rear window and small quarter side-glasses. But, for the concept, there’s no actual top beneath that leather-covered, rear-hinged hard tonneau, so bring your rain poncho.
To tie-in with the original '69 Camaro convertible, the concept gets a paint job in eye-poppin' Hugger Orange pearl tri-coat with twin gunmetal-gray stripes. Check out the thin, orange pin-striping around the rims of the wheels to echo the look of the old Redline tires.
Inside, there's a new black and white color scheme. The seats are trimmed in Saturday Night Fever-style white leather with white Alcantara faux-suede inserts, while the instruments get new white faces with cool blue neon rings. Interior designer Micah Jones had to rework the rear seats to make room for the top folding mechanism, which meant ditching the rear section of the center console from last year’s coupe concept.
Apart from those show-car 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels and some embellished trim and interior bits, what you see here is pretty much what you'll get when the Camaro convertible hits showrooms in 2010, a year after the coupe. Those who've seen the production versions in the hallowed halls of GM Design say both coupe and convertible stay amazingly true to the concepts.
Under the skin, the new Camaro will ride on a version of GM’s Global Rear Drive platform -- known internally as Zeta -- developed by GM's Aussie Holden division. It features a four-link independent rear end which should give the Camaro a handling edge over the live-axle Mustang. Expect V-6 and V-8 power and a starting price around $25k. We're drooling already.

Re: New GMs
The new Mustangs have some decent performance packages. Thats good for us Chevy guys, with Ford bumpin up the bar Chevy will answer with a bang by 09!
Cant wait to see who wins the HP wars.
Ford ruled for decades until Chevy brought out the small block in 1955. they rules until 1965 when Ford and Dodge fought back. It was a solid fight until the oil crisis of 1973 when the muscle car era died. Then in the 80s Ford cma e back swingin with the 5.0 Fox body... well Chevy tried with the F-body camaro/firebird but it wasnt enough. They were finally put to rest a few years ago only to have a few years for figuring out the formula to WHOOOP FORDS ***!!!
Thats my story... From one car guy to another... Sorry Ford guys... your time has come! lol

Well I know one thing. Chevy will NOT make a Camaro that has less HP then a mustang GT. And I'm Hoping they'll come back with the sickest SS or maybe even IROC model ever
Re: New GMs
they will have to. Dodge already gave up competiting on the entry level car, but apparently they are coming back swinging in this fight as well.
im sure they will have a NASTY SS or some Yenko style car to come back at Ford with. You know youll see a detuned Z06 engine in a new camaro in some sort of package. LS7 would be SICK!

That will be in the z28 and SS model I bet. Then hopefully they will bring back the Yenko and blow the doors off any new mustang.

28mpg
