929 Idle?

How In The Hell Do I Get This Thing At A Steady Idle?

If I'm Sitting In Neutral The Idle Is Steady And Where I Put It.[3500-4000]

Buty The Minute I Clutch Up, The Idle Drops Back Down To 1000-1500 [ Almost Stock] Until I Pull In The Clutch And Tack It Back Up...

Need Help

Re: 929 Idle?

Homie you DO NOT need that much idle on a 929. Put it at a little above 2k. Thats why its acting up......its too high.

Re: 929 Idle?

That's My Point, It's Worst Around 2k, No Matter Where I Put It, It Still Goes Back To Stock[ Or Close To] After Clutching. I've Heard Of Other People Having That Same Problem, So I Did A Search First, And Came Up With Nothing...

The Reason I Have It At 3500-4k Is So When It Drops In The Middle Of The Wheelie It's Still Higher Than 1-1.5k...

YOU CANT SET YOUR IDLE THAT HIGH DUE TO THE EXHAUST VALVE. ITS CLOSED AT LOW RPM AND OPENS AT HIGHER RPMS (ABOUT 3500). YOU REALLY DONT NEED TO SET IT THAT HIGH, ITS TRICKY AT FIRST BUT IT MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO FUNCTION WITH IT AT 2100 RPMS.

Re: 929 Idle?

It doenst have anything to do with the exhaust valve or the airbox valve, I had full exhaust on my 929 last year, and removed the flap in the airbox, still had the same problems as i do now with stock exhaust.

cant turn it up past 2200 with out it jumping all over the place

From my understanding you turn the stock idle adjustment down to stock setting of 1200 or whatever it it is.

Then you take a 900rr adjuster cable and add it to the throttle boddies somewhere. Havn't done it yet, but will be taking a look at the bike this weekend.

Yes, the stock cable runs to the fuel pressure regulator. That's why it makes it all haywire. Get a 900 cable and run it to the real idle screw in the center of the throttle bodies.

Funny you should say that. My bike makes and awful noise as the rpm's pass 3500 in either direction. How do I solve this problem. My red 929 does this and it has a cage. I have an erion without a cage and it doesn't do this. That f---ing noise is annoying as hell.

Re: 929 Idle?

Sounds like something I need to try.

If anyone reads this and has a 900 idle adjusting cable they can spare, PM me. I'll take it off your hands.

If you have a FI cage it's the sliders rattling. I rode JackassRR's 929 with FI cage and it was doing that. That's what he told me. Take the sliders out and wrap some electrical tape around them so they fit tight.

Re: 929 Idle?

ive heard lots of people say the idle does the same thing with the 900 cable hooked to the throttle stop. just take the flapper out of the airbox, and the valve out of the exhaust. set the idle to 3k with the clutch in, pulls at 2200...NTH for days.
