Crack in Frame---WTF??????

I just noticed a hairline crack going along the weld of the motormount on my 929--Its not deep and I used a mirror to look at the back of the weld--no cracks from behind--Maybe I can grind it down a bit? Would it be better to have a professional aluminum welder weld it or try that "Alumaloy" stuff thats on TV?? All you need is a torch for Alumaloy and they guarantee it holds...Has anybody ever used this ****?? Help!!!!! Hope these pics help....

i'd go to a welder bro, this way you know it'll be strong, it'll only take them couple mins to do it

Re: Crack in Frame---WTF??????

Yea thats what I was thinking too.....after I replace the entire clutch assembly in it....the plates snapped inside the crankcase and ate up the inner basket. Boy I really hope these are the ONLY problems with this bike

Re: Crack in Frame---WTF??????

definitly dude, go to a welder, sport bike frames are not just aluminum, they have a magnesium alloy in them, you need a special gun and you need to know what you are doing, i have all my bikes plated with 1/4 inch aluminum behind the entire leangth of the frame then have a peice welded around the entire circumfrance of any weak spots. doesnt matter what bike you have, eventuallt somethings got to give...

This is why I'm going to be staying away from Honda in the future.

My 600RR has had problems and I just cruise the thing...

Re: Crack in Frame---WTF??????

Whatever kind of bike you have, if you stunt it hard something's going to crack. Get it welded, that should hold for a while, but keep an eye on it cause it can crack there again. If it cracked once it can crack twice.

thats why you got to plate it, just welding over it wont hold. plating it will hold 4 ever.
