Tires

I thought I saw a similar thread awhile back, but I need to know what tires are good for stuntin. I'm still running Michelin Pilot Sports on my 929. They don't make for good rolling burnouts and doughnuts are a bitch with them.

If you like Michilen, try the Macadams. They are more of a 'sport touring' compound than a 'supersport' compound.

They are harder.. less grip, and last longer. If you aren't worried about tire grip while leaned over, give them a whirl.

Keep a sticky one on the front. On the back go with a Continental or a dunlop 207 they don't hook for ****.

I went ahead and bought a second rim (salvage yard). Now I just check the local bike shops for used tires. They pay about a buck apiece to have them hauled off, so they have no problem letting me take a few off their hands. I have a buddy that works in an auto shop that has a tire changer that my rim fits on. You don't need a machine, though. I've seen a video of a tire change by hand, so I know it can be done. Now I keep a used tire wheel for practicing burnouts, and a good tire wheel for regular riding. I got wheel changes down to about 10 minutes. My friends thought I was stupid for spending the money for the extra rim (about $250), but I've had it for several months now, and I'm still glad I got it.

i had a pilot 190 on the back of my 2000 gixr750 at 18psi which let me do 12's and other assorted wheelies.it also gave me no problem with any of my burnouts makes nice smoke very easy to control.my favorite tire so far too bad i cant find anymore in the dumpsters all i find are those crap 207's which have atendency to shift the casing.maybe you should practice more and stop blaming the tire.

Let the front Pilot stay nice and warm-- use less air pressure at lower speeds and/or cold weather.

The easiest rear burn-out tire I ever had was a Chen Shin off the scrap heap. It looked about ten years old-- deep cracks in the sidewall and shiny slick rubber. Horrible choice for any other riding, but worked great as a burner.
