Re: What size Sprocket are you running?

I got a 02 gsxr 600 went -2 and rear stock. I read something that it says it is easier on the drivetrain to leave the front stock and increase the rear. If it less twitchy with a stock front and larger rear. Is there a difference? Curious. Only been stunting for about 5 months and going to get it set up in the winter and just want to get suggestions. I ride on the street alot but max only needs to be around 100-115mph. I don't care about the top end.

Advice helps.

I can bounce 1-3 and almost got 4th down, when on the highway. Just looking for the best combo someone suggests for slow stuff, for next riding season.

As far as changing just the front or the rear. I don't belive it is less twitchy with a big rear and stock front as long as it has the same reduction ratio. The bigger you go sprocket wise, the twitchier it will be. It is true that it abuses the chain a little less if you keep the stock front because the reduction (torque amplification) happens between the rear sprocket and the wheel, not at the front sprocket. But I highly doubt it really makes the chain last that much longer. As for a suggestion for a sprocket set up, I love my -1 +7. It lets me creep along pretty damn slow, but still lets me go on the highway a lot faster than I should be going on stunt bike with 6psi in the rear tire. If I did it over I would go -2 +2 so I wouldn't have to buy a new chain and I could get about the same reduction ratio. A good rule of thumb for comparing set ups is is -1 in the front = +4 in the rear.
