Quick ? DO you grip with your knees?

Just real quick, not even sure if this deserves a thread but I'm starting to get standups now on the Kat. I'm just wondering if, when you're standing on both of the front pegs, but kinda hanging back, do you grip the seat/tank with your knees when it's coming up or not?
I tried it both way and I'm feeling more comfy when I'm gripping the seat, but I just don't want to learn it wrong and get screwed up later.
Thanks.

same here, when i was learning i was all tense too. i was rockin' with both feet up front and squeezin' the hell outta my bike i had huge bruises all down my calves and knees i was doin' 'em so much. after a few weeks and a few hundred wheelies i relaxed a little and started doin' 'em with my left foot on the rear, after you learn balance the staggared position will be easier to balance in the long run. keep it up, you'll be balancing stantups soon, but remember "walk before you run"!
