engine problem

i recently cracked my case so i had to drain my oil to take the case off and when i went to get a new one i had to wait a week to order it so my bike has been sittin in the garage with no oil for a week. i finally got the new case and put everything back together and put oil in it and i went to start it and it won't even go into gear. Do i have to put oil in the transmisson as well and what would cause it not to engage if anyone can help it would be great. it's an 04 gixxer 600 if it matters

Re: engine problem

Does it start and just not go into gear? Or it doesn't even start?

I say if it's not starting, try and push start it. Your engine may have gotten "sticky" without oil in it for a week, and it just doesn't want to turn over.

Also, try and jump it with a CAR battery because maybe your battery lost some voltage during the week...

if it goes into gear with the bike off then its more than likely a clutch issue, if the bike was hot when u drained the oil and it cooled without oil on the clutchpack --possible the clutch siezed itself together

What he said... If you take your plugs out it will make the engine easier to turn over because there won't be any compression.
