powers 954 cage install/review
powers 954 cage install/review
ok, so after some bolt confusion i called powers up, and they said to do what teh instructions said.
do i liek it? i like teh cage, but i wish where the long *** bolt goes thru teh rear , i wish the tubing parts of teh cage were a little bit straighter and the bolt was thicker like stock. maybe im just beng paranoid, teh guy at powers said they have never had problems and many people call to complain about the bolt when they get the cage, but they tell them to not worry and that its fine, and they never hear back so im guessing its fine LOL. it was a BITCH to install by myself, i walked around teh bike liek 5000 times LOL
so overall i like the cage, i woudl just give a contructive criticism and say try and make the tubing parts straighter (make em so tehy line up 100% cause in reality they dont) and make teh bolt beefier. it was kinda a pain in the *** to put in, but probably cause i was doing it alone
for otehrs with 954's. did you have this same problem? and am i just being paranoid LOL liek i said in my other thread, im not at all bashing it, actually i really liek it, i even laid teh bike down on teh side to test it out, lokos all good to me
but my mains concerns are should it be a pain in eth *** to put it in liek it was for me? and is everything gona be alright? just cause the rear bolt is what concerns me teh most. it looks as if teh whoel rear setup might be a bit crooked cause of teh mounting tube of teh cages. i just dont want the motor to start moving. its nice and tight and teh rubber is wedged liek a ****. everything bolted up ok, it seems as if teh cage has to almost flex itself when mounting.

i agree, all my friends run powers and they never have probs with the cage or the peeps. installing a cage for your first time, and by yourself is tipically going to be tough. i just got an f4i and im gonna run a powers cage. :YEAH :YEAH
Re: powers 954 cage install/review
The Powers is the best design for an F4i. Like the guysaid though, they don't line up perfect, we had some trouble on my boys 900, had to fight it a bit. I've got a 905 on my 1000 and it took me 15 minutes from start to finish to get it on there.
Re: powers 954 cage install/review
I had a hell of a time getting my cage on first time but I figured out the sequence and how to line everything up and it's not too bad now. It's kinda hard to get everything to line up when you weld **** together like that. Not sure what kind of shop they have but I'm hoping the more cages they sell the better the quality will be. I love the cage though. The bike has taken some pretty hard hits and held together. I thought plastic bumpers where crap but they turned out to be OK as well, I just need some more so I can keep hitting them. Bottom line. The cage is a little hard to mount but it holds up like a *****! Powers all the way!!
Re: powers 954 cage install/review
ok, so basically you guys are saying it doesnt line up 100% and is ok like that? then good , cause that is what makes the the most nervous. it lines up fine along the motor mounts and by the oil filter, its just the back thats a humongous BITCH to line up , and isnt lined up really my only what i would call flaw in the design. i tested it out and laid it down on teh right side cause a damm socket got stuck where they meet teh oil filter LOL. all i can say is i hope everything is good and that the alignment in teh back doesnt affect it when it takes a beating

My friend just put one on his 900rr and at the bottom by the oil filter we just used a sea-clamp and clamped it straight while we installed the bolt through it. Works great though. i dont care how hard it seemed to put on. im still going with powers on my f4i. :YEAH :YEAH :YEAH :YEAH
