Please Help!!!! standup picking up just a little speed.

im new here. thought i would ask for some help. i have a 929 doing standups left foot on the rear right on the front. clutch up at like 30-40 got it pretty consistent (i feel good with the clutch, i rode dirt bikes for years). i get it up high legs are straight (we took some pics) i can go usually about 1/2 to 3/4 miles and i end up at like 80 just picking up a little speed what do i have to do. everybody (they dont wheelie) says your high enough. are they wrong does it have to come up more or do i need to lean back in the pic i am kind of leaning forward. i tried both feet on the rear pegs and it feels pretty good, but havent praticed it much yet. will that balance easier or not. i havent been anywhere that i could try to ride it out. im going to try to attach the picture. on the ones that i clutch it up good i can keep the throttle steady, but it still barely picks up a little speed then if i hit a bump or whatever ill chop and have to bring back up and there goes more 10 mph. or so. what do you guys think? sorry so this is so long. lol. thanks

If you feel confident in your rear brake control, then here is my advice... you need to just keep coming back, when you have to get on the rear brake to keep you from looping then drag the brake a little, you can go from like 80 and slow your bike down to idle in a wheelie, it's a little hard on the your brakes but you just gotta keep rockin' it back... For obvious reasons (no rear brake) I def. wouldnt recommend both feet rear pegs if you want to slow your stuff down. Now with all that being said, if you just want to rock consistent highway stuff then you need to find bp with as little rear brake as possible or your going to burn it up.... Just keep practicin' ...

ya, what he said, it sounds like you're not quite as comfortable as you should be with the rear brake or else you'd be able to slow it down as much as you want. Sounds like the 3P's would help, as always.

Also try to be as smooth on the throttle as you possibly can... At first I was real choppy on the throttle and I found that this was doing nuthing but lurching my forward and making me gain more speed than I needed to. This was way before I started learning to use the back brake. I'm still not platinum on my brake control yet... but it'll come with time and practice.

Re: Please Help!!!! standup picking up just a little speed.

Always cover the rear brake if you're new!!!!!!!! It's your only why back from the other side. It's not so much height anymore. You're high but the rest of the way back is going to feel like you're coming back and going downards a little bit. I think the best way is to press a lil bit on the brake as you are coming up. Doing that is going to allow you use the gas to dial it in. Once from there if you let off the rear brake just a little it should fall back and your speed will slow down, but never completely come off the rear brake. That's how I did it, now a hardly use the rear brake at all. Only to dial it in.

hey I'm to this point right now. straighten them arms and lean back. This will make a world of difference. leaning back is a mind thing you will feel like your falling back. That's why I put my left foot on the rear peg.

Re: Please Help!!!! standup picking up just a little speed.

try some better gear then t-shirt...

backprotector would be good, after all you are close to the limit and without ? rear brake control you can loop it.. Not nice with t-shirt at 80mph. Not nice even with full gear thou...

Some v-twins would offer enough engine braking to slow it down, but 929 at least with standard gearing doens't engine brake enough to save it..:?

definitly wear some more gear. id rather sweat than bleed. i wear a joe rocket jacket, teknic spine guard, fox knee guards, joe rocket boots, and a hjc helmet. your close, but you need to come back a little farther, keep working at it, you'll get it.

I think if you lock your elbows straight which will make you lean back a little further, you will be ok also easier to control it this way in my opinion. That will throw a little more of your weight back and maybe be enough to get you the little bit more you need for bp.
