Re: back brake coverage

What I do is conciously put my foot over the brake lever BEFORE i do the wheelie, then.... listen carefully... i use the brake to play with the wheelie, not the gas, i keep the gas consistent but use the back brake to bring it back down.

Then it's in my head as a survival reaction that if i need to bring the tire down I use my foot instead of my hand, so if i get too close to going over i BY INSTINCT hit the rear brake, haven't looped yet...

opinions are welcome on this method... i don't know how many other riders do this... probably not many LOL

usually i just keep my foot lightly over it before the wheelie though

Re: back brake coverage

i am was the same way. . . until i looped my shiz. if im sitting i sit further back, and if im doing standups its with the left foot on the rear peg, both of these positions alow me to cover the rear brake better. if i did it the old way i couldnt physically cover the brake without putting pressure on it at all time. in both of these cases your body will be behind the brake allowing more room for your leg to stretch out

Re: back brake coverage

I do the same thing with the left foot on the passenger pegs and right foot on the brake, i just hold a small amount of brake all the time, it works for me...

Re: back brake coverage

you need to just go straight with both wheels on the ground and lock up your rear tire a couple times. then when you start to wheelie, hit the brake about the first 5 wheelies you pull. then you just have to remeber to cover your rear brake. worked for me and i used to have major probs hitting the brake.
