Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
What brake fluid are all u guys running? When im doin slow stuff and using the brake alot my fluid burns up fast. My brakes will start getting some fade, and as soon as i change the fluid they work fine again for a few more days. Just wondering if theres some good sh*t out there that i dont know about?
Re: Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
ahhhhhhhh wait dude. Use the Dot that the bike calls for. some bikes use Dot 4 some dot 5 THE DIFFERANCE IS HUGE. CHECK YOUR OWNERS MANUAL. If you use the wrong stuff it can cause damage.
Berlin,
I hope you have the same bike or owned one in the past or something, because if not that's pretty dangerous advice to just say that. That's like telling someone to use 10-40 oil when you don't know what it calls for.
If you do know that bike really well, then disregard and you have my appologies.
as far as brand I use belray and I can't tell any differance between that and stock.
also if your ride calls for DOT 4 be really careful when adding because DOT 4 will eat plastic and paint so fast you won't even have a chance to wipe it off before it does damage.

Re: Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
You shouldnt have problems with brake fade. If your brakes are fading, practice easing up on the brake. You never want to ride the brake, you just want to give it a tap tap tappy here and there. The only time you should ride the brake is when you are trying to slow down, but really you should try to make yourself use the gas and engine brake to slow down and give the brake a tap when needed when you mess up and go past the point where engine braking keeps you from falling back.

I'm gonna have to agree with LB3. I used to have all kinds of problems with my rear brake.....I was going through pads every 2 weeks, my fluid was getting burnt, and I was getting alot of brake fade-sometimes at inoppertune times
. Now, I run the same pads, the same fluid with the same bike and my problems have gone away. I just practiced alot and smoothed out quite a bit. Keep ridin' and you'll get it. Oh yeah, I did notice that SBS pads seem to resist fade pretty well.

[you should try dot 5 you will not have any problems I havent , it works really well just make shure you get all the old crap out first, you cant mix dot 5 with dot 4., the dot 5 looks tight anyways its purple
I can ride wheelies past bp all day with no brake but lately ive been slowing down to like almost complete stop, and it seems like when i go that slow i have to ride the brake and throttle a little to keep it really smooth...
Thanks everyone for your

tight.. turn your idle up homez.. when you slow down with the motor brake keep on keepin on untill you slow down enough to where you dont need to give it gas anymore... then do the tap tap tappy on the brake to stay off the bar. come on do it... do it.
Re: Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
I only use Motul RBF600

It seems like when you ask for advice on here you just get more confused, because everyone says somthing different. So someone give more advice on which solutions are right. Im using motul 5.1 right now...
Re: Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
you can use Dot5 if you want but you're only going to mess your **** up
Re: Brake fluid question for all the stunters.
Listen,
The fluid really doesn't matter much. Just use what the manual calls for. If you want more consistant feel, less fade use braded brake lines because it will stop the expansion of the stock lines and make the pressure more constant and predictable regardless of the temp. Braded lines are the best option. the fluid itself will not change the feel at least not enough to tell. You may think it does because you bled them but thats it. Besides I'm wondering if anyone in here paid attention to what I said before. There are people jumping in here saying use dot 4 or dot5 well that has nothing to do with the performance of the brakes it does have to do with making them work! so if you use dot 4 in a bike that calls for dot 5 you WILL have problems. How would you like no bakes at all?
Fuggin don't give people advice unless you know for a Fact damnit.
cause your gonna get someone hurt.
Like this ok,,, use the DOT spec that the owners manual calls for.
see not so hard huh
