Clutching + wear and tear

Couple of questions.
I have a 01 929. What is the best rpm range to rev up to when clutching wheelies in 1st and 2nd?

Also, how much wear and tear does clutching actually do to your bike?

Thanks,
wlaver

Re: Clutching + wear and tear

I've never burnt a clutch up yet, and I've had 3 bikes, been clutching this one up for a year on a daily basis. I think new clutch plates are like $60, but I could be totally wrong. Other than that, I've herd guys complain about the damage it does to the transmission, and I was extremely doubtful that there was any, so I asked a buddy that has been one of the head tecs at a Honda dealership, and he told me that it doesn't hurt it a bit, but I'm not a pro mechanic, so you might want to see what others have to say.

Clutching Puts Alittle More Strain On The Bike Than Every Day Riding. Not To The Point Of Killing The Transmission But Still Worse Than Normal Riding. Learning Rolling/circle Burnouts Is What Tore Up My 1st Clutch Not Wheelies [that's Just Me]. Clutchs From The Factory Are About 85-100 Dollars, Just For The Friction Plates.

I have a 01 929 and i'm rolling about 4k and then rev it up to 9k and pop. That should work for you, but try smaller until you find the point.

Just trial and error; start small and work your way up.

I have a '00 929 and usually I go by noise, but I think it is right around 8K. Start at 7 and work your way up and eventually you get a feel for it and can go by noise.

Please don't clutch wheelies, you'll wear the hell out of your passenger pegs.

IVe never been a fan of clutching like that. I just go off sound and feel . I dont like pulling in the clutch while still on the gas, reving, and then letting go. I like to just start reving up without the clutch then when I "feel" or hear where I want it I flip in the clutch for a milli second , while Im still on the gas and Im up.

As far as damage... I had a mint 98 GIxxer 750, and after about 3 months of clutching it up every day 100 times a day it started making weird noises when I had the clutch in and still rolling, who knows what that was.
