I think this is the problem with the 900rr because i bashed in the tank and i think i may have cut through the rubbers. but the 954 shouldn't be making this noise, it's a 2002. the noise sounds like its just beyond the tank, maybe like the airbox or something.

Re: 954 & 900rr vibration

i had 2 929's and one of my friends also has a 929 and a 954. All of them vibrated about 5k rpms because of the exhaust valve. It stopped when i put a full system on my yellow one. I don't know if that's the same vibration you have or not.

if not it could be the cam chain making some noise, or the tank vibrating on the tank a little. I know mine also does when i hit a bump going down the road, it makes a vibration like metal against metal. hold the throttle at the vibration and start pushing and pulling on things until it stops.

954 has stock exhaust and the 900rr has a full d&d system but the 900 i dont care as much, it's my stunt bike. but the 954 is precious :YEAH . so im a little woried about that. it has the stock exhaust on it. did they ever have a recall on anything like this before?
i think my chain might of got a little stretched out, so hopefully it has something to do with that(thats easy to replace). it just doesnt sound like it's comming from the chain area.
thanks for any info you can give me

like i said, stock exhaust has a valve that rattles like a bioch in the midrange. the 900 wont have that valve so that's not what it is on that bike, but it could be on the 954. and make sure when you read a post you read all the words. i said CAM chain, not chain....the cam chain goes on the cams inside the motor, has nothing to do with your drive chain. :YEAH

Re: 954 & 900rr vibration

Last Sunday my 954 started vibrating more than normal while I was out practicing (to the point where it was shaking). It started about after the third or fourth wheelie pass. At first I thought I might have been low on oil and it may have been early signs of engine knock. But the level was full plus some to spare. The I revved it up and it sounded like the exhaust was clogged. So now I'm thinking it's either the HTEV malfunctioning or it's my motor mounts being loose. I haven't had time to check everything, but I'm just hoping it's loose bolts on the mounts.

Re: 954 & 900rr vibration

My 900 vibrate like a bitch that because the rubber tabs on the fuel tank are gone. To many highchair wheelies. Ive been looking for some rubber or something to put under the tank. This is what may be wrong with your 900 dont know about the 954 my boyz got one but no vibration problem

Re: 954 & 900rr vibration

take out that hard *** rubber thats between the tank and the fram. get something a little talle and that covers a little more area it will take most sometimes all of it away.

sounds like your exhaust valve isn't opening. a connection could have come loose. check the box under the left side of the frame and see if everything is plugged in and if the cables are ok. start it and let it idle, and you stand looking at hte box and have your friend slowly turn the throttle nad raise the rpms. watch the server arm on it, it should move when it hits certain rpms. i think 2700 is the first open and 7k is the second open. if that servo isn't moving then it's burnt up or came unplugged.

it wasn't smart, i just said to read the whole post cause you missed an important word, CAM....cause that makes a huge difference between chain and cam chain when talking about a bike.

forget i even tried to help.

Most of you guys probably use frame sliders. Well check the engine mounting bolt torque and there is also an order those mounting bolts get torqued down. Check those that may be the cause. It was with mine.
