Re: Performing the switchback

this is what you do, with my gixxer i would get to six gear and choke it, if you dont have choke put it in newtruel, then just jump up into the air and spin and land on the tank with your hand still on the handle bars, then let go of the handle bars and turn around really slow, the bike likes to lean very easy when backwards so be very careful.

Re: Performing the switchback

there are so many different ways to do a switchback.. id say the easiest (and ugliest) way to learn em is like this:

go to a long road....
speedup to like 3rd gear...
kick neutral...

let go of handlebars
flip your right leg over to the left side of the bike.. (your now sitting side-saddle)

with your right hand brace yourself on the steering stem nut, or windscreen
swing your left leg over the tail section, then immediatley let go of right hand and face backwards...
with your right arm brace yourself against the rear cowling/seat
stand up and plop your butt on the tank.

things to remember about being backwards the first few times:

the wind will push on your back
everything is backwards, left is right - right is left.

becareful not to weight the pegs, or bump the handlebars the first few times.. cause you will wobble...

Thats the way i learned em 4 years ago... its the way crazy martin taught me, he still does em that way! the way i do em now is a little diff. (I think easier) i speed up, kick neutral, with my right hand i touch the top of the windscreen, then i jump as high as i can, kick my legs towards the tailsection and sissor them in the air, and land with my *** on the tank. i let go of the windscreen as soon as i know im landin on the tank.

another way you could do, is like a half spinnderella style, which is also pretty easy. get into a barhop position (feet over). left hand go under your legs and grab the top pipeside of your upper fairing, and your right hand grab the tank right by your left *** cheeck. spin. same thing to get back straight.

the switchback is a really fun trick man. people always freak out on the freeway when you pass em backwards, or newbie riders when you smoke em in a corner backwards was always a blast!! they really arnt that hard just remember the bike WANTS to go straight. if you fall.. the bike goes straight. so as long as your fluid with your motions you wont upset the balance of the bike and itll continue to go straight. keep that in mind. just be smooth.

"its jet ski stuff"
good luck man, lemme know if i helped at all

just practice on track stands and find what is the most comfortable way to get up and around for you. Just make sure you learn to get back to normal before you road test you switchback, and don't grab the bars at first. The bars will sweep you off of the road so fast if you don't understand how they work when you are backwards
