first time clutching it up = clutch problems
ok so today i went out and practiced clutching it up. i was sitting in first gear practically from a dead stop every time. i would rev it up and dump the clutch. it would come up ever time some i dont think i was just burning the clutch up. but now when i let out the clutch it catches way later than it used to. i catches real quick when the lever is almost all the way out. my question is: is the clutch burnt out? is the clutch cable stretched? do i just need to adjust the clutch lever? please help me out guys, not sure exactly whats going on with it

the thing is i never adjusted it in the first place. it was fine, then after a half our of practice it was only catching way out. ill try fiddling with the dial to get it back to normal, if not ill have to have someone inspect the cable or clutch

a side note: On most manual cars i've driven, after several burnouts / launches, the clutch heats up, and engages different. Once given a chance to cool off, its back to normal.

i like it better the way it is now, dont need to pull the clutch all the way in but it still engages/disengages fine. its easier to work the clutch with one or two fingers

hmmm thats what is must have been. it was slipping at high revs cause when i left the spot i was trying to to power wheelies and it was like the tire was just spinning. . . but it wasnt. . . so what does that mean?

Re: first time clutching it up = clutch problems
the clutch might not be gone , the cable might be to tight screw the bolt on your clutch lever clockwise a few turns then go take it for a blast and see if its still slipping if it is then its your clutch , how many miles on the bike

It's hard to imagine that am 03 954 clutch is already out. Honda clutches are tankes and can take some serious abuse. I have 24,000+ miles on the stock clutch and I clutch the **** out of it.

My boy has an 03 954 too and his went after 1k miles. I just confirmed with him that the install was the cause.
If all else fails, take it in. It is still under warranty. Why worry when you don't have to?

theres a guy on here that had his 600RR clutch replaced last year under warantee it was $hit
but like said above make sure you have a "little" play in your clutch
lever, you dont want it super tight against the perch
