900rr Help!

I have a 95 900rr with 10,000 miles on it. The bike won't go up with gas. It will go up with the clutch if I rev the sh***t out of it. Everyone says it's probably the clutch but it feels like it has plenty of power and it never slips. Anyone have an idea what is causing this?

Re: 900rr Help!

Its probably the clutch, 2 of my buddies have 9's and they had the same problem and it was fixed after they put in some new clutches with barnett springs.

I took it to a mechanic today that told me the carbs were really dirty and needed a major cleaning and then resinked. Does that sound right? I am thinking about doing that and going +3 in the back and a 520 chain.

Number one. It isn't the clutch, and it isn't the carbs being dirty. It has A LOT to do with your riding position. I have a '99 900rr and it has 31000 miles on it. (yes 31K) I have had it since new. Stock I could power up in first and clutch first, and sometimes second. Then put the full pipe and stage one jet kit, filter and ign. advancer. Now stock gear, first gear power are no prob. Second gear bounce/power no prob. Clutch second no prob. Went up 2 teeth in the rear and now even in third bounce/power.

I have only had the valves adjusted at the 16K mark but no carb services.

Try diferent seating positions. It should come right up.

Laters.

Re: 900rr Help!

I got it to go up today. I was rolling at 6k in first and used the clutch. It went up, but it shouldn't be taking so much effort. I put it in to get the carbs done and I am going to go +3 in the back w/a 520 chain. I hope it works. I think there ripping me off though. They're charging me $600. Does anyone know a good shop in the New York area?
