Bouncing when you're light

Is it possible to bounce up a 600 if you're 140 pounds like I am? I can only get the thing bouncing 6 inches at best..

Re: Bouncing when you're light

I tried it, it's very difficult for me but basically I was in first gear and throttling off and then I pushed with my hands and pulled back hard as I whacked the throttle.

I only got the wheel off the ground once and in fact that time I didn't even bounce it I just hit the throttle hard at 7k as I was pulling back on the bars.

Re: Bouncing when you're light

Yea it's all timing. I'm about 165 and I varely bounce at all to bring it up. Just sortof semi-bend your knees, extend, bounce down, and right when the bike is gonna rebound, whack the throttle.

It can be done! Timing and bounce!
Sounds like you loaded your shocks
and not really bouncing>>>
Let off(or maintian at the right RPM)
Bounce Your weight
and roll into it
with the right RPM you should
get some action!!

PRACTICE Different variation

Re: Bouncing when you're light

Your talking about first gear rite? If so, its very easy to bounce first. I'm about 150lbs and when i first started i used to bounce only. Get going to around 7k rpms let off real quick then you will feel the forks compress...as soon as it rebounds give it a hand full of throttle. You have to practice. And start off by giving it not too much throttle on rebound...slowly give it more as you feel more comfortable bringing it up. If you dont start off small, once that thing comes up really quick its gonna scare the **** outta you, bringing it crashing back down and leading to a nice tankslapper.

btw, are you on honda-tech? I thought i saw someone on the motorcycle forum that got a gsxr600 in colorado.

i ride an R6 and weigh about 143 pounds, just last week i learned the cluched wheelies by bouncing it. are u bouncing the bike and waiting for it to come back up or bouncing and right away pulling up and dumping the cluch. If u do it right away it should come up. i always waited and nothing happened intell i got told to do it right away and i figured it out. just cover that back brake.

i forgot to put that im talking about 2nd gear wheelies. first gear u should have no reason to cluch or bounce.

Re: Bouncing when you're light

I don't have to worry about being scared when it comes up fast, I've already clutched it before so I know what that's like. I just want to learn to wheelie by bouncing it so I can get a better feel for it.

I practiced for a bit tonight. I kept my knees bent and locked my arms shifting all my weight to the rear. I powered off at about 7000 and then whacked it good and I rode it out to redline. I still can't seem to get to the balance point though. At least I'm getting it up. :YEAH

Re: Bouncing when you're light

learn to clutch.

but if your not when you bounce you snap your legs and your *** back at the same time. its only a little bit of the pull with your arms and alot more with the legs and ***. gotta get the timing to. just practice and it will come.

CLUTCH IT!

Re: Bouncing when you're light

i'm 130lbs and i have no problems bouncing. a lot of times when you see someone bounce, they'll clutch along with the bounce. that's what i do. it's all in the legs and timing. never, NEVER pull on the bars. it'll come up crossed up, and not square and will cause you to pull right or left. just use your legs. if i can do it being 130, it can be done. it doesn't take a hard bounce.

Re: Bouncing when you're light

yeah i wouldnt tug on the bars ... specially when your just learning..... the only pressure that needs to be applied to the handle bars is the twist of the thorttle.

Re: Bouncing when you're light

I didn't get to practice today and but I'll go out tomorrow.

I haven't really been tugging on the bars I just meant that i'm keeping my elbows locked so all the weight is towards the rear. Should I be standing all the way up or crouched?
