Stoppies

Alright...

This may sound lame, but, i'm home on leave right now, and my bike is halfway across the country in Texas. So....to get myself in the spirit, iv'e been going to every bike shop i could find and just sitting on bikes..anyways, my dad has a mountain bike, and iv'e been doing stoppies on it like crazy.

I'm wondering..i know its 1000 times easier to pull a stoppie on a bicycle, but its basically the same idea right? And are stoppies standing up hard, cuz that's how i do 'em on the bicycle.

Yeah, same idea, just alot more dangerous if you overdo it. Just take it slow and work your way up. It's also better if you do them a little faster. If you try them at slow speeds you have a better chance at flipping them. Try starting at about 30mph and ease the brake till you get the frontend compressed, then apply more pressure.

Yes standing is hard. I've only seen one person do them. Then again I havn't ever tried em'. 180's and long distance is the hardest.

when u start go about 25 to 30 mph, lock the front brake till the tire starts to *** up then ease of a little so u start to roll.and remember to take your *** of the seat so your weight isnt on the bike. and dont try to do it like some people that go 10mph and jam the brakes and just pop it up then down cuz u tip over alot easier,u need momentum to keep your balance, its also easier faster just scary at first, but u will gey use to it,u have to put your weight to the front so the tire dont slide. good luck

Hooray...

I just relearned the sitting on the gas tank trick, and i did my first burnout tonight, i'm so overjoyed. But, unfortunately, tires cost money, so i'm not gonna do too many more burnouts...or at least i don't think i will.

try them sitting in the highchair first...much easier to get the rear tire off the ground, but harder to balance. Don't apply to much break or you'll be on your face. It worked for me.

Gradual

All I did to learn was to pick a parking lot and start with slowing down real fast with just the front brake. After a while, the back end starts coming up. After I got comfortable with that, I started to play with the brake to get the front wheel to roll. This is accomplished by squeezing the front brake until the back starts coming up, and when that happens, keep the lever at that position until the back falls back down. Progress from there.

Couple of other things. Squeeze the tank with your legs, and always pull in the clutch. If you have an older, heavier bike, spend a little extra money for a race compound tire. Good luck.

Come on guyz, tell him how you're really supposed to do stoppies. Bro, get your scooter up to about 80mph and then just slam on the brake as hard as you can. When you flip over get back on and do it again. Now,, remember when you flipped over a minute ago?? Remember that point juuuuusssst before you flipped??? That's where you wanna be.

stoppie/endo is the only thing i havent crashed at yet

for some reason this is the only thing that i havent crashed at!

But then again i never tried it at 80 yet, been trying it at 65 maybe 70 but at this time of year when it is in the 20's out no matter how warm my tire is, i am still going to skid or slide every now and then. Hell to warm up my tire, soon as i jump on my bike, i lock up my front tire and get it to skid, churp!!! usually after 5 to 6 tire it will go up and then after riding i can get them.

Even after i have been riding for 30 minutes or so and i think that the tire is warm, the damn thing still skids. I cant wait till summer or at least till it warms up to maybe 50 or 60, this 20 degree weather sucks at times, especially when i loose feeling in my fingers and hands.

i was wondering if any of you do stoppies in the pouring rain, how your luck was at that ****???
