Turning: To Sit or Stand?

I'm riding an XR200R with no rear footpegs. So I've just been practicing sit-down wheelies, between 15 and 30 mph. I can't control direction very well, but I can shift gears some. What really aggravates me is that I can't control direction very well, and often have to set it down to stay on the road.

How do you steer while doing a slow sit-down?

Can you do stand-ups without rear foot pegs? Maybe I could bolt something on...
