Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
I know that most people recommend stunting 4-stroke dirtbikes but I know some people must have tried 2-strokes. I am trying to learn on my yz80 and wondered if anyone had any advice for stunting these less popular two-strokes?

It does happen, people stunt 2-strokes, some even prefer them. Thats why I'm asking, but thanks for all your posts telling me no one does 56k.....

Re: Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
It's just that I have a 2 stroke. I know it's stuntable, it may be harder to do than on a 4-stroke do to the irradic powerband. Which believe me i'm aware of. But I think with practice I can figure it out. I saw those posts about others stunting on 2strokes and was wondering if anyone who has experience on a two stroke could give me some advice. Yet every post you've made towards me has been somewhat negative. If you've never seen someone stunt on a two stroke thats fine.... just let them post, you don't have to.
thanks anyways, Jon

try and switch gears before the power band kicks in or dont get all the way on the throttle i never had a problem with the power band kicking in. And my buddy nelson wheelies his cr through all 6 gears. There is nothing impossible about it.

Re: Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
okay well now i know what your talking
sorry if you took it the wrong way but im just trying to help
i didnt say 2 strokers suck for stunting , i told you they have a killer power band to make it harder for you to wheelie, so its up to you to work your way around it. i didnt know you were the same guy posting practiclly the same question i dont come to post on stuntlife everyday you cant expect me to know man..... You didnt state in your post that you knew that 2 strokers would be harder cause of the killer power band so i simply just mentioned it to you... dont take things the wrong way im just trying to help, you seemed to ignore the post i told you about the grips i used for the dirtbike seat so i can stay on and not slip off or that special grip seats they make for you bike that they sale on ebay., i guess You didnt see that but hey like i said i was just trying to help so dont take it the wrong way.

Yeah I know you made the comment on the tape 56k and I believe that I said that was a great Idea and thanked you. But other than that you've been pretty negative towards the two strokes that was all i ment.
No hard feelings.
Re: Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
You have to be very good with you'r rear brake. Since there's no real engine braking you have to use the brake every time you get just a bit to far back. And when hitting the brake you have to be gentle, so it dosen't drop too far, you won't have much power to get it up again when not in the powerband.
About the powerband, I'd try to to wheelie at the same speed every time to start out with, and then keep the speed steady while riding the wheelie, this way you will stay at the same rpm's, and it will be easier for you to know how much throttle to give.
<--- That's a two-stroke too. I tend to ride the brake more than the throttle. I can go pretty far back, and still pull the bike back to the balance point, but with only 1,5hp I can't save much if it starts dropping the front.
I'd Imagine you could do the same. The engine power might be a bit tricky on a 80cc two-stroke, but you'r brake will stay the same.

Cool I can't wait to get out again. So far I have been driving in first right up to the powerband and then snapping it off and on to bring it up. Think this is the best way or should i try and clutch it up before the powerband or what? Also do you cover the rear brake all the time or do you actually ride it a bit?

I do it either in 1st or 2nd, just gag it real hard about 5 or 10 mph, let it come back, pull in the clutch around 12 like a coast, and let it come on back and scrape, cover the rear, then as soon as you hear it scrape hit the brake of course. Don't ride the rear brake just cover it, you don't want to ride the brake it takes away from the power. I scraped my so much I wore of about 4 inches, so when I scrape I am like @ 1:30
CLutch it before the powerband
Re: Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
I just got back from fooling around for awhile. I think i just need to work on getting back to the BP. Its still new to me and i'm trying to get past the "oh ****" part. I attempted to clutch it up both in first and second. It will not come up unless I rev it into the powerband. I spent most of the time just riding up to the powerband and snapping on and off with a little rock to bring it up. I'm going out all day tomarrow and I'll keep at it. Thanks for your all your help and if ya got any more ideas or pointers let me know.

Re: Does anyone stunt 2-stroke???
I've tried 'stunting' (not that I'm in anyway good on any bike
) my NSR125 and my RD. The NSR stoppies and does burnouts (though you do have to get your wieght /right/ over the front to get it to loose traction) etc okay. I reckon it would be just possible to get it to the balance point, but I'd need a lot more skill to keep it there. I was getting pretty high with a bounce and cracking the power on, so I reckon adding in some clutch action at the same time would bring it up nicely.
The rd wheelies nicely, infact I'd say I've learnt more about wheelies on this that any other bike I've ridden, including a downgeraed, race tuned zx9.
Doubt much of the technique is the same as a smallish 80cc dirtbike though.
