For beginners, I would say learn it w/ your stock gearing....

There are alot of people locally that ask me all the time if they should gear their bike to learn 12's.... I say no.

Learn it stock, then later on get gears if you want...

I learned with some gear, and my boy learned it stock. He's a much better rider for it, not too mention if you learn it stock, you can jump on any bike and rock it mad slow.

Started stock and always will be. Finally pulled a no hander the other day (riding inside). Startin' on circles soon, want to get better on ho handers first.

you should be geared up 10 in the back and 2 down in the front. you'll learn 12's in a week or two.

Re: **any of you 12o'clocker tried it stock then geared up?**

i did it stock just recently, 3 times, and dropped it, now im -1/+5 and i can get it up quick and slower, but this damn snow around here is killing my trying, so i am gonna have to start from scratch after the winter

You should be riding a bike that works properly, then you should be 12ing in a week or two!

Re: **any of you 12o'clocker tried it stock then geared up?**

I am learning twelves right now and i tried it stock first then i geared it -1 , +10 and it is so much easier to twelve cause it comes up faster and has more engine brake so if i mess up. i say gear it to the hilt.
