Learnin stunts on a dirtbike?

I was looking at getting a dirtbike to learn stunts on. I know alot of people use 125's. A kid down the street is selling a yz80 pretty cheap, would that have enough nutts to do much on?

xr50-100 are pretty much the norm bikes in the stunt world.. A few like the TTR125's...

Everyone says to stay away from 2 strk dirtbikes. Seem to be hard to maintain and perform on...

Well this kids bike is a 2 stroke. Are 2 strokes not even worth attempting stuff on or is it just more difficult. I'd perfer a 4 stroke but they are going to be more expensive and price is an issue.

If its cheap enough, just get it. Thats a fun little bike, just not too good for slow controlled wheelies.

Almost no engine brake on a 2-stroke. And the power will kick in very suddently when hitting the powerband. Much higher risc of crashing while learning IMO, when there's no engine brake to save you when you go too far back, and going to far back is easy due to the steap power curve.
You'd probably have to learn how to use the brake right away...

That said, I've seen ppl rock very slow wheelies on 2-stroke dirtbikes. And with a light 80cc crashing probably won't be that bad.
I'm not gonna try anything on my Husky 250cc 2-stroke tho

Well I just picked it up today. Did a nice little wheelie test driving it around. I'll have to go practice stunts on it once it gets nice and see how she works. Little 2 strokes got some nutts though.

when you are tired of blowing up and repairing that 2 stroke , go buy an xr 100 / 50 to learn stunts on... xr 100 if you want a clutch, xr50 if you just want to have loads of fun stuntting an inexpensive, indestructable bike that you can take and stunt almost anywhere. my 2cents
