teeth count
i have an 02 gixxer 600 and want to know how many teeth i need to add in the rear to be able to do highchair wheelies in 2nd and basically get it up easier however i dont want the bike to top out at 110 either any advice?
i added 3 teeth to my back and it pulls up like nothin in 2nd, just roll on no clutching and almost in 3rd, but there's a **** load of torque when you convert. don't change the front first. people i know did and it didn't make a difference. you also will gain top speed.

adding 3 teeth in the abck is the same as removing one tooth in the front so he people who told u they didnt gain anything by removing a tooth are doin somethin wrong, and if u add teeth to the rear/drop teeth in the front ur gonna lose top end speed not gain, its the way gearing works. But if ur lookin to wheelie and dont mind the fact that ur bike might top out at say 130-140mph instead of 140-150 (real mph not indicated!!!!!!!!!) then the tooth situation should not be a problem

Oh yeah, Joker, a gixxer 600 doesn't have the power of your 929 so it will have to be geared quite a bit lower than that.
FNF, try adding three in the rear. If that's not enough try one down in the front also. If that doesn't do it go down two in the front. That's getting pretty low but you have to sacrafice somthing to get something. Top speed for more torque. Front sprockets are cheap so you might start there first. Plus if you go very big in the back you have to get a longer chain.

Actually you DO gain top speed.
You see, here's how it works.
Bikes are geared from the factory with a theoretical top speed higher than they can actually go.
For example, the R6 is geared for a top speed of around 180. The problem is there's not enough power to use this gearing (drag, friction). When you lower the gearing MODERATELY, you can more easily use the available power and overcome these affects.
For example: if I gear the R6 -1t front +1t rear, my top speed is around 165. A stock R6 tops out at under 160.. that puts top speed on a stock R6 in 5th gear. With the lowered gearing, you can use the pwoer in 6th gear more easily and thus gain top speed.
SO, long story short: moderately lowering gearing RAISES TOP SPEED.
Now, if you go +5 in the back and -2 in the front you're gonna lose a little.

well i dont have em on my bike yet but, yea it really smoothes **** out instead of the jerking of the throttle its a little easier to control cuz it has more tourqe at lower rpm's.
I THINK THATS RIGHT,IF NOT OHH WELL I CAN STILL DO IT!!!

just to see how it would be to mess with the real slow wheelies i went 24 up in the rear left the front stock on a 97 f3 havent tried yet because of the weather but this spring for sure...to bad i probaly wont be able to go over 50 mph but all i need is 35 on one wheel anyway for the speed limit ..right
