building 12 bars

All the 12 bars I see are made of a wide piece of flat stock, why is that. With the flat stock you have to get the angle right, if you used a piece of pipe about 2'' in dia. you wouldn't have to worry about that.

No matter what shape it is, after a hundred scrapes it will be flat, and at the correct angle to the pavement.

because a 2" diameter pipe is going to give very little contact surface to slow the bike down, and will wear through very quickly.

if you have a tape measure, a sharpee, and you're not a total dumbass when it comes to fabrication, it should be easy to build the bar so it touches at the right angle.

Dude, weld a pipe on the back, scrape it a few times, them youll have the correct angle. weld some flat stock on it and it will be perfect.

one thing we learned, remember to have your tire pressure set where you want it for 12s before building the bar. My first bar we built with full pressure in the tire, angle was correct, when i aired it down, the angle was way off.

to get the correct angle, just tack weld the plate on, then set the bike up on the bar at 12oclock, adjust it so its flat and re-weld.
