smack and call me late for breakfast but..
I just started riding this summer and you guys are probably all to familiar with this question from n00bies but, I got some advice from a guy on how to pop a wheelie by using the clutch and so i tried it...ended up looping my bike. well bout a month and half later i got my bike up and running again ..(not as pretty but it runs) I need some advice on whats the easiest way to start getting the feel of wheelies. I"m not looking to do quarter miles on a 12 or anything i just want to start gettin the feel for them to wear i can pull the tire off 3 to 4 feet consistantly without having to worry bout losing it.....and since i'm new if you could post as much detail as possible thank you
post and let us know exactly how you looped it and i can tell you where you went wrong.
right now just by listening it sounds like trying to wheelie is a little early for you, you might want to just get comfortable with your bike a little longer before trying stunts. and ALSO, like everyone says a millions times you have to keep your foot over the rear brake so when it comes up, you can just tap it and it'll come right back down, that's your saftey, i've never looped a bike yet but when i was learningi came so close and just tapped the brake and back to normal i was. also, if you freaked out and jsut went crazy when it came up and lost your mind, that causes problems too. You have to relax when doing it and focus on what you are doing.
give us some info on what happened and i'd be glad to help. you should come down here to terre haute sometime or over to indy when we're over there and we'll help you out.

that would be awesome if you guys let me know a time i could ride with you and just watch and learn from people who know what they are doing.. and to tell you more on how i looped it (your goin to laugh) I have been trying to get my bike to wheelie for awhile now and i could not get it up for the life of me..so i figured since my bike is a '93 maybe it was built heavier than the new ones and it can't wheelie so i just decided to go all out...i was rolling in first gear not goin any faster than jogging speed and and i held the clutch in and revved it to the limmiter which i think was around 12k rpm and then let the clutch out and that bike stood up so fast and i tryed to balance it but since it was the first time that i have been up there i didn't really know what to do and just ended up falling off the back. I would really like to take you up on the offer to ride with you guys even if its just for a day I really want to learn from people that know what they are doing thanks a ton
well, your bike is a katana so it's a lot heavier.
but anywyas, you're ****ing nuts going to the rever limiter and then letting go of the clutch. that's asking for a death wish! crazy man walking.
just keep reading on here, there are tons of posts on how to do wheelies so keep up on those posts and you'll figure it out man.

Man, im not laughing at you but i can just picture somebody doing that!! It had to of happened so fast you didnt even realize what was going on untill your *** hit the pavement. WOW, stay away from that limiter. around 5000-5500 doing 10-15 mph is fine. Cover that rear brake too. Noobie,
Stay away from the clutch all together at first. Use throttle roll to get it up. It seems like it won't come up at first but it will. Don't try to get it to the balance point right away just make a smooth arch. You will get the feeling of it then you can use the clutch. Just roll on hard with the throttle and give a little pull. It works!

the reason why most new guys go over is that they have no throttle control. CHOP CHOP CHOP then over bye bye tail. everyone has the own little way to wheelie you should check out all the ways to get it up and go with the one that is easyest for you. **** i bounce freeway shift 1st to 2nd backroads and i clutch all my other tricks.(tanks seatstand ect.)
Everyone has their own way. Without the clutch it is just one less thing you have to think about. When you first start wheelies everything happens so fast. It will slow down in your head once you get the feel for it. Throttle control is by far the most important thing though.
