first time wheelies

I have a 97 FZR-600 D&D slip on, and thats it. Whats gonna be the easiest type of wheelie for me to start learning? I am real comfortable on the bike, just never really tried a wheelie. Any ideas or tips are greatly appreciated, and does anyone ride around the ATL area? New to the sportbikes here and lookin for a good crew to roll with. Peace

start with powering them in first so you know what to expect, but i can't stress enough to be easy on the throttle because the higher you get the faster it comes up, just play around with gettin the tire off the ground a little, after that it's just baby steps, have fun!

yeah, my yzf600 comes up pretty easy in first ... just drop the clutch at like 6000-6500 and it should go no problem

suspension wheelie. go about 20-30 and bounce the front forks and roll on the throttle. I'd cover the rear brake while you learn them.

I rode and raced an FZR for 3 years, and all I can say is GEAR IT! It may not be the weekest bike out there, but it's low on torque. First gear roll on's aren't too hard, but it runs out of steam fast. I found that really slow (5mph or less) clutch-up wheelies are easy to get up, but hard to maintain. I've seen a few people on FZR's start out rolling on in 1st gear, and as soon as it gets up, shift into 2nd to ride it out.

All-in-all, not the easiest bike to learn to wheelie on...

Just my 2 cents.

My boy wheelied his the first day he had it by accident. First bike he ever rode too. He's a piece of work though. I'd say throttle to get used to stuff, then when you are riding out first for a good distance come bakc with more questions. Good luck and be safe

take it slow and cover the rear brake..... i would start by powering up before trying to clutch...since you have plenty of power with that 750...get up to about 30 - 35 mph...let off throttle then back on again as soon as the forks compress...play around with it until you get comfortable with tire coming off the ground....
