06 636 startup problem

Last summer I went down on my bike, bent the frame..blah blah blah. I bought a new frame, mounted the engine, subframe, everythings back together for the most part. I do not have an owners manual or a service manual so I just did my best at putting all the harnesses back and plugging all the plugs up...anyway heres where I'm at. The gauge reads neutral, oil lights on, and f1...the valves adjust or w/e when you turn the key...no fuel pump prime...and the engine wont turn over. The starter works...I'm sure you guys need more info so just ask...I'm not a mechanic so please have patience. Thanks

Re: 06 636 startup problem

well if ur fuel pump doesnt turn on it could be one of two things that pop into my head right away? tip sensor, or your cam position sensor. altough ur fuel pump would still prime for the second one

Re: 06 636 startup problem

well if ur fuel pump doesnt prime then its possible that its messed up. there could be many things that would keep it from turning on so i dont wanna say i know for sure wat it is. but if that tip sensor goes to **** then it keeps ur bike from starting by not allowing the fuel pump to turn on. if u wanna go ahead and try by passing it i could help u out and explain it.......

Re: 06 636 startup problem

ok first of all... what colors are the 3 wires going to the sensor?
and there should be a plug by it that it plugs into. r the wires coming right out of the wiring harness from the bike in the same order that the wires are in that are going directly into the sensor?

Re: 06 636 startup problem

ok theres two ways to do this. one of them is to cut off the sensor and splice the wires. i could tell u how to do it but u dont know for sure if its ur sensor so ima have u do it the other way. unplug the sensor. pry it open. and take that wheel out. put it back together and try it. lemme know how it goes

Re: 06 636 startup problem

unless u wanna try the other way. take the two outside wires and splice them together. cap off the middle one. thats how it is for most bikes. if that wouldnt work just try connecting the other couple combinations of wires and just cap off the remaining one. worst that ul do is blow a fuse if u connect the wrong ones but i wouldnt recomend that way since u dont knopw if its that for sure.

Re: 06 636 startup problem

I took the wheel out of the plug and it didnt do anything...so i guess by process of elimination thats not the problem either...wouldnt the engine crank if it was just the fuel pump? so its gotta be some safety switch somewhere right?

Re: 06 636 startup problem

and sorry to tell ya bud but theres definately more than one problem. first u gotta figure out ur fuel pump problem. but then after that ur still gonna have to issue of it not even trying to turn over. i have a good feeling its got something to do with ur wiring. almost positive. but then again idk how much stuff u messed with. so there is a very good chance a sensor could be jacked up...

Re: 06 636 startup problem

tip over sensor wont stop the bike from turning over it just wont let the pump prime and just for the sake of any one else reading this thread you cant bypass the tip over on a 636 by splicing the wires ..

and bypassing a 636 tip over only works if the tip over works in the first place , bypassing a bad tip over in a 636 means you still have a bad tip over ..

sounds like you may have missed plugging some thing in like the right side hand controls
