06' 636 minty. Just took all the plastics off and put a acerbis headlight on it. Looks fucken dope, just waiting for my cage n sub cage to get in so I can install that puppy.

Anyways while taking everything off the bike, on the left side under the upper left fairing there is this black box with 2 tubes coming out ot it. I'm pretty sure it's just some emissions b.s. So I took it off because it was an eye sore and I stuck a bolt in the tube that was sucking air, and I routed the other hose down to the bottom of the bike. I'm curious if anyone knows what this actually is and if I'll have any negetive results from plugging the hose? A mechanic I work with told me I should plug it and at the very worst if anything went wrong fuel would probably just come out of the bottom hose, at which point I'd just put the damn thing back on o.O

 

its the supercharger .. now ur gonna lose those extra 36cc's

 

I'm not sure what it is on that bike, but if it sucks/blows air, it should be free to suck/blow and not plugged!

 

I said the same thing! But what do I know? This guys a master mechanic for 30 yrs (on cars)

 

NUMBER 5!!!!! What the hell is that god damn thing?! The master mechanic said if i didnt plug hose 10 i run a chance of running a bad fuel/air mixture. I'm curious why it sucking clean air rather than fumes would make it run a bad fuel/air mixture? If i left both hoses unplugged what is the worst that could happen?

I dont like plugging tubes when I dont know what it's doing.


EDIT: this diagram has 3 hoses coming out of the canister, mine only had 2. So i most likely plugged hose 8 or 10, I dunno which. Hose 9 is definitely routed to the bottom of the bike though. The hose runs straight under the gas tank from the front left side of the bike.

 

THATS THE SMOG BOX/CHARCOAL CAN. IF YOU DO THE KLEEN AIR MOD ON YOUR BIKE IT WILL GET RID OF THAT. YOU CAN FIND PIC'S HERE IN THE SEARCH BOXI DID THAT MOD AND TUCKED MY WIRES ON THE OTHER SIDE....

 

listen to HOAXONE and do the kleenair mod

If you don't do the kleenairmod right now, at LEAST unplug that hose so it can suck

 

I just got my bike all back together, I was reading up on the kleen air mod this morning but didnt have time to read through all the damn pages.

 

****... after reading 9 pages of this clean air mod for the 636 (still got 18 pages to go) Im wondering if plugging that hose is guna make me blow any seals or gaskets?

I'm not even starting my bike again until i figure this out
