f3 blowing fuses
i have a 97 f3 someone that owned the bike b4 me bypassed the starter switch to another button... they did it bcuz they put on a different front master cylinder and it dont use the wires for the front brake to turn on the brake light....and it dont have any gauges, all the wires were cut.... the bike ran fine when i got it. the only thing i did to the wiring was i cut the wires to the headlight and one more wire, but i have those all reconnected and the fuse for the ignition, fuel pump ect. keeps blowing..... iv worked on many wire harnesses and everything seems fine.... the bike turns over but without a fuse to the fuel pump the bike wont start... i dont get it..... it takes a 10 amp and as soon as i turn the key it blows... i tried a 15 amp and it blew too........

Re: f3 blowing fuses
Well, there is one easy way to figure it out, but it is kinda risky..... Take ALL of the plastics off, until you can get a good view of the wireing of your whole bike....Put a jumper wire in place of the fuse, but make sure the jumper wire is good and thick...... Most of the time, the problem will show its ugly head, like maybe something is grounded out..... Or you connected a hot to a ground, and it will melt the wire and make it smoke.....
I'm telling you this, it is a last ditch effort, and it works, SOMETIMES. I assume no responsibility if something does go wrong, but you know you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes, I guess?

Re: f3 blowing fuses
here is a wire diagram... im not done but ill post it when i am.... i think it might be a ground issue... i noticed there is not a green(ground) wire hooked up to the headlight..the headlight only has 2 wires cuz its not the original.. i'm gonna try hooking it up to one of those.. there is also a ground at the fan motor, im gonna check that too

Re: f3 blowing fuses
It would be simple and easy to check them both... if you just disconnect them both, do you still blow the fuse? I couldnt see how you would blow a fuse from a ground not being connected.
