f4i Cali model wire harness?

Friend got a f4i he took apart, and borught to me to reassmble after poweder coating

he gave me one wire harness, that has a hook up for a o2 sensor, and some other red hookup that I can't find out where it goes...

then he tells me he has ANOTHER harness at his house, but didn't think it was what came on the bike, but the other harness has no o2 sensor hookup

the bike wont run, wont prime the fuel pump, wont even crank the motor with the wire harness with a o2 sensor hookup on it.. Maybe we got the wrong harness? Does it matter hwat harness we use?

trying to get this damn bike running

Re: f4i Cali model wire harness?

ugh he went and got the other harness hooked it all up, still no fuel pump prime OR starter working

I know f4i's inside and out, every sensor is hooked up that has to be. Only **** not hooked up is the radiator fan, headlight, and the pcv valve

Also another thing I noticed, his wireharness has FOUR wires going to the ignition, his ignition has 3 wires, missing the blue wire with a stripe...
So we tried the iginition on my f4i, since it has FOUR wires, it didn't help his bike. So we tried his THREE wire ignition on my bike that has a FOUR wire harness and FOUR wire ignition, my bike started and ran fine

Don't you have to have the headlight hooked up or some **** on the f4i for it to run?

the tip sensor harness (but that is the same harness as the headlight and turn signals)
but I got that hooked up with the sensor by passed

I guess tomorrow imma cut all the wire harness apart, remove all the tape on it, and try and trace for bad wires..

spent almost 4 hours today just trying to get the bike to start!

worst thing is I know every sensor on a f4i, I know exactly what needs to be hooked up for it to start.. I've had many down to pieces and know I have everything hooked up.. Just gotta be a friggin short somewhere or a bad relay or something

If I can't figure it out tomorrow, then I guess this weekend when I pop the subframe off my f4i, i'll swap harnesses over and see if his bike runs with my harness

I hate those types of problems, worst part is that it almost always turns out to be something simple. good luck, maybe try another harness, you can sometimes get um cheap off ebay, last one I got was 30 bucks and minty fresh.

Yeah **** like this sucks

I love working on **** that I KNOW the set plan and what to do, big trying to diagnose wire problems drives me nuts

Tomorrow I'm gonna cut the harness apart and inspect all the wires.. If I can't figure it out just gonna have him buy a used harness

the big question is, can a cali model wire harness work on a non cali model bike?
cause we have a complete wire harness but it has hook up's for a o2 sensor and some other connector.. I tried it originally but it didn't work so we went to the other harness.. but BOTH harnesses came with his bike, so I can only imagine one is bad (dunno why else you would have two)
