04 600RR idle mod help!!!

Took my bike to the shop and had an 03 954 cable installed, however we could not get the bike to idle any higher than 2500 no matter how many times we turned the ****. What could be restricting my idle? Please help! Thanks

I read the thread on the 600R idel mod and I think I have all the info that I need. You have in regards to needing two cables with one at the stock setting and the other being used to raise the idle. Appearently the second cable is needed to open the other throtle bodies which in turn raises the idle. Is this correct?

Re: 04 600RR idle mod help!!!

if i remember correctly the second cable goes between the two center throttle bodies and opens them just like you were twisting the throttle , the stock cable just richens the mixture ..

im a bit confused by your post , did you just replace the stock cable ?

Yes, it was replaced with an 03 954 cable. I was under the impression that the different cable would allow me to increase my idle past 2500 rpm. So you're saying I can just put a second stock cable inbetween the two middle throttle bodies and that will do the trick?

yes , remove the stock set screw that is in between the two center throttle bodies and replace it with the new idle cable , leave the stock idle cable where it is
