I have an 02 gsxr 1000 with a yoshi carbon fiber slip on and kn filter. Bike is putting out some really strong exhaust fumes. Bike just had a tune up and is still doing this. I bought the bike used and it came with a power commander 3 but its not hooked up. Im being told that my bike is running that way cause the aftermarket stuff and no pc3. I have no instructions or software and Im guessing I can use the buttons on the module if someone can tell me how to use them. Im not sure if there is already a map in the power commander. Please help cause this bike is gonna be my daily driver for a while. Also is it normal for these bikes to heat up very quickly to 225 in traffic? I dont remember my 600 ever heating up this quick.

is it a tune-able power commander? ... or you can just undo all the wiring for it if its still wired up

you can go on the power commander web site and get a maps to down load. but you should put the bike on a dyno while tuning it. if you take the power commander off it should run back to stock. i never had any problems removing my power commander and the bike not running right had one on my 600 gsxr. and also mine ran hot 225ish is hot but i have got mine hotter is your rat clean and dose it have the proper water in the coolant that could be a issue if the coolant is shitty or the fan not running.

The fan works fine and the bike just had a full service tune up

the previous owner may have taken the PC off because it was running rich and thought running it back to stock would fix the problem. Hook the PowerCommander to a PC and go to their website like the other guy said. You can find your map there. Select the map and save it on the PowerCommader. Hook it up to your Gixxer and hopefully it will not run as lean. If you don't like the map you can tweak the setting right on the unit on from your PC. 1000 normally run a little hotter than 600 but you can burp the radiator to make sure there are no air bubbles in the cooling system just in case.
