636 smoking

Alright, so I did an airbox mod to my bike last fall. I've had no problem in the lot, but today I went out and did a few wheelies in the street and it smokes like crazy as soon as it comes up. Is anyone else having this problem? I know the mod is doing the job because it's obviously burning the oil instead of filling up the airbox. I put extra oil in the bike, but only until the top of th sight glass is full.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this.

Thanks!

sounds like you put in too much oil, it will find it's own level eventually

I thought this might be the problem right away. But i looked at it today and it looks like the oil level is in the middle of the high and low level line.

Not doubting that you did the mod right but if its dne right you shouldnt burn oil at all. Is your airbox completely sealed with no breather lines going to it?

did you disable the pair valve? if you leave the little vacuum line on the back of it then it can still open and close

Yes, both the front and the back are plugged

Sorry roger but I don't know what the pair valve is. Is it the t connection on the front? If so that small vaccume line is still connected.

I took out the pair valve and put a T from home depot in there and plugged the vacuum line with a screw!

some one didnt follow directions...lol yes thats the pair valve and you need to disconnect that little vacuum line off the back of it because with that line connected the pair valve is opening and closing according to the amount of vacuum in the motor and that is bad because it allows pressure to build up in the crankcase ....

just unplug that vacuum line and stick a long screw in it and dont worry about capping off where it came from there is no need

now that I think about it I think I cut it in half and put a screw in both sides of the hose. But I'll have to check it out later tonight to make sure.

ya so many people act like it's major surgery but really all you are doing is bypassing the air box and dissabling the pair valve
