I recently bought a Vortech gas cap. After installation i used the shop smoke machine to see if it leaks and found the Base of the gas cap does not leak but the actual Cap it self leaks. I seen that somebody used brake fluid on the seal to make it expand.. has anyone else tried this and did it work for you???.....

 

mine leaks when ya fill the tank all the way up but its not that much.

for those who had a leak and fixed it what was your solution.... please help

 

if it's just the oring then get a thicker one but some times you need to take out the check ball in the vent so the tank doesn't build so much pressure ...

 

ok. except since my tank has been dented down i actual had to grind all four mounting point down to get the base to seal better and do you kno where i can get another seal for the gas cap it self?? the base seals its the cap that does'nt

 

harbor freight has orings and most auto parts stores have orings

 

some hardware stores even make them on site, they just cut, put in this little mold and i am guessing use some kind of epoxy, once there done you cant tell were the seam is
