brake reservoir mounting

Did a search but handbrakes are such a popular topic I got tired of skimming threads trying to find what im looking for.

Is it absolutely necessary for the reservoir to be mounted higher than the brake lever? If its not will it still feed? Being level or just below it? Or should i put a longer piece of hose on it and get it above the master?

BOTH MY RESIVIORS ARE LOVER THAN THE MASTER CYLENDERS AND THEY WORK GREAT. JUST MAKE SURE U BLEED THEM WITH THE RESIVIOR HIGHER THAN THE MASTER. DONT KNOW IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENC THATS JUST HOW IVE ALWAYS DONE IT.
