who knows 2 strokes????

my sisters got a 90cc honda lead scooter one of under 100 in canada and my parts dealer cant get parts but i got a parts bike to. so i was riding it down the road and it just stoped. its getting good spark but still wont run. a do it friend told me it was a jet stuck in the carb? but im not sure if hes right. any input would help here.

Is it getting fuel? Can you do a compression test on it?

what he meant is he thinks there is a clogged jet in the carb... little piece or sand or dirt can do that.

Clean the carb, make sure it has compression, check the reeds (if they are cracked/chipped/or worn out it could make it not run or run poorly).. and let us know how that all looks...

Re: who knows 2 strokes????

sounds like debris in the carb is a good place to start looking... clean your carb. that means taking it off, take the bowl (bottom part) off, remove all of the brass jets and clean them with carb cleaner, make sure all passages for fuel and air are clean, reassemble. take your time and pay close attention to how things are before you take them apart and it is easy!

I meant, is fuel getting to the cylinder? Basically a jet could be clogged. Is it flooding or running out of fuel.

yup, no fuel dude. may want to check the inline fuel filter if it has one/replace that, do a good clean and insp' of the float and needle....had one a few days ago on a friends quad, the needle was sticking into the seat anjd cutting all fuel off from the cylinder. you'll get it dude...take ur time and use a safe drop light to inspect it all on the bench if it's easy to get off the scoot-scoot

Re: who knows 2 strokes????

so its all rebuilt and put back in the bike it starts will run for 10 min and die. for the first 5 mins it will run you can hit the gas and it will rev up the next 5 min it will just idle and if you hit the gas it will boge off. the carbs getting gas as i took the line off from the fuel pump and its working. i put new gas in it to.new k&n air filter to. im sick of this damn thing. i hate 2 strokes. oh yes its getting good spark. getting gas. compression. oil. and a new k&n air filter would mean its getting air. what more does it need?!

Re: who knows 2 strokes????

does that have the stupid choke on it thats controlled by WAX? Honda made a scooter that has a choke on it thats got wax in it. When the wax is cold/hard the bike is choked, and when the bike reaches operating temp the wax melts n it turns the choke off itself. Almost like a thermostat in your vehicle. N i have heard them going bad n doin **** like this.

yea there are cars that have the same idea.....what you do is take a look in ur throttle plate/choke plate when it's cold and see if it's shut...if it's still shut when it warms up maybe he choke linkage or that wax thingy isn't allowing the choke plate to open when it is at operating temp.
