Re: break fluid?? dot 3? dot 4?

Dot 4 has a higher boiling point and is recommended......but Dot 3 should work. you probably have some air left in the lines

+1.....that silicone **** will deteriorate ur lines and you will have a bad failure when you are showing off for some hot chick.....go dot 4 or check ur manual specs for the year of your bike dude. motul is good...i use it in my 600 but everyone swears by their own type.

+1 anything that dot 5 has silicone in it and can not be used in any break system that has dot 3 or 4 in it. Theres a chemical in the dot 5 that will react to the 3 and 4 and will break down the rubber o-rings, seals, and the inside of your break lines. Read the back of the bottle...

but to answer your question RBF600.

Re: break fluid?? dot 3? dot 4?

If I had DOT 3 in my 01 f4i and I change my lines to SS and bleed everything can I use the RBF600 or should I just upgrade to DOT 4? If so what kind of DOT 4 should I use?

Re: break fluid?? dot 3? dot 4?

There is a Motul non-silicone DOT 5.1 BRAKE FLUID it is 100% synthetic, polyglycol-based and does not contain silicone. Should I use the Motul 5.1 or just go with any DOT-4 fluid like Honda or Belray? I cant find any Motul RBF600 thats been recommended by everyone around by me and dont have time to wait for it to be shipped, but I can get my hands on the Motul 5.1. It doesnt have silicone in it so should I go with that or just DOT-4? Has anyone used this non-silicone version of the 5.1?
