i cant get these stoppies for nuthin ... ive read all the threads and some of em say progressivly pull in the brake and once its in hard enough itll come up .... then some say just hit the brake hard ... if i hit the brake hard the front just skids ... dont mean to keep askin the same question but i cant take this sh*t no more
I learned by being progressive at first, until you brake enough to lift the rear end at low speeds. Hopefully from this you'll be able to gauge how much brake is needed to get the rear up, and can start to roll them out from 30, 40, 50mph+.
Hope this helps...

I have a 99 f4. and I way 300lbs, which is a lot to lift, but the bike comes up for me rolling at about 30 or so mph. I just lean over the tank a bit and sqeeze the brake a little harder and harder and it comes up eventually. Grabbing hard brake (nearly locking it up) may work according to some of the riders here, but depending on the surface of the road you are on, loose sh*t will cause you to lose the front end or you could grab to much and catapult right over. I have seen this on videos and it does not look fun! Also, you may want to try this: go about thirty mph or so, lean over the tank just a bit, and start giving it some brake. once you feel the forks start to load, and while still braking, bounce you *** on the seat. as the seat comes back up, give it even more brake and this should help to bring the tail up nicely.
Really hope this helps

I got to thinking that maybe you didnt mean rolling stoppies so here is the only other thing I know: I start braking for the streetlight or stopsign or whatever as usual, and shift into neutral. when I get to about 5 or 10 mph, I lean over the tank and squeeze the brake hard enough to stop that front tire right where it is and even when the tail comes back down, still keep on that brake cause you could bounce and roll backwords. I dont know how that happens but ive done it and almost dropped my bike. Anyway, im sure that how much you weigh will effect what speed you have to actually stop the front tire at so all I can say is that it takes practice. I would suggest starting at 5mph to see how high or even if it comes up, and then gradualy increase the speed at which you stop. Eventually you will start trying to roll them!
thnx for the help man .. i wanna try this real bad ... your bikes hot .... the first bike i ever had was the yellow/black f4 .... now i got a silver/red one ... do you have trouble bringin it up in 2nd?
lol I have a hard time gettin it up in first! Interestingly enough, I learned to stoppie by being cut off while tank huggin to keep warm. I liked it so I just kept doin it. but anyway, I can get it up in first sometimes, but never in second. not even clutching it. But I think that has a lot to do with the fact that it still has stock gearing. If ya wanna chat or somethin you can catch my aol instant messanger thingie: clumbsybiker. I always enjoy talking to other f4 owners. Not many around here!
Yo yo F4 homies, Waz up? Haha
I just got into stunting a did my first few stoppies this past week. Clumbsybiker gives good advice. I can't roll mine yet but have no problem getting it up. um, haha. I think they leys to it are to lean forward and get your weight over the front tire, give the breaks some jab not too hard but enough to give the forks some preload, then pull the break in, I pull in fairly hard but don't just jam it. I've done that a few times on my fiddy and went flying.

I love to talk bikes too, and writing this I can't remember which one of you but I think one of you is from cortlant NY, Utica here, if you ever wanted to take the ride we get some pretty nasty bike gatherings on wednesday nights.
