Re: sprocket coloring

tape off all of the teeth carefully, go to auto zone and buy the brake caliper high temp paint in a can, and go at it. I put about 5-6 light coats on mine and let it dry for a week-even let it sit outside in the sun to bake a few times-came out mint.

SI for sure:

Re: sprocket coloring

There was alot of powdercoating built up on my SI sprocket when I got it. Not a big deal at all, I'm just saying they come powdercoated, so of course you can powdercoat them. Just watch building it up alot on the teeth and it really doesn't matter if get's on there or not.

I had to spin the wheel on the bike (chain off) and grind the **** outta it with a dremel tool to get my chain to fit down inside the teeth.... I thought I got the wrong sprocket, but it's all good now... chain seated fine, and steel is definetely the way to go!

Re: sprocket coloring

ok... that wasn't meant like they ALL come powdercoated.
Just that they CAN come powdercoated if you want. Sorry for that to sound confusing, I was only meaning if they come like that then why couldn't you do that to them....

was that better?

whats a good chain for a decent price?

and im not going down any teeth in the front, but will i need a new front sprocket anyways?

Re: sprocket coloring

it will be whatever size you order... but if you go smaller than stock you'll need to make sure that you DO go ahead and get a front sprocket to match the size you choose...

what I would do is get the same as stock or whatever is on your bike(if your sprockets and chain aren't that old) and that way you can use your front sprocket... Then the cheapest thing is to just find another little length of chain from a freind or salvage yard that matches your chain, and buy two masterlinks for it, and just cut your chain and add how every many links you need to make your existing chain long enough.

two master links are probably going to be around $11.ea, you should be able to get your chain pieces for next to nothing, and the only thing that will cost you the most will be that sick sprocket.... hope that helps.

Re: sprocket coloring

yea that helps, but one problem... the guy that had the bike before me obviously took really shitty care of the chain, it is all rusty and **** and has been since i bought it, and the sprockets are still stock, they got about 17,000 on them from what i know. so yea, lol, i think im just gonna buy everything new.

oh and is f4i 16 in the front stock?
