03 r6 rattling noise at around 8grand

My r6 has a rattling sound at about 8000rpm and it just keeps getting worse. I think it's right in between 8000 and 1000. either way I know it starts at 8000 if I keep it below that I don't hear a rattling noise and the bike still runs good. I have over heated it a few times, My fan stopped kicking on automatically so I just wired it direct and left it at that and at first I forgot to turn it on sometimes. Any Ideas?

Really? I thought for sure it was the pistons or something lol I don't know **** about bikes so I was going to get rid of it. so ur almost positive that's what it is?

Edit: will it hurt things worse if I keep riding it before I fix it? like just ride it for this weekend and than fix it? or is it a really easy fix that I could do in the morning before riding?

the cam tensioner should be easy to acess....sometimes not, the tensioner is most likely the stock auto tensioner....but if you get the manual one alls you can do is blame yourself if the chain skips or snaps. line up the timing marks on the crank and the cams ,make sure the slack is on the tensioner side of the assembly...make the adjustment to the chain and go kill it. my friend had a F4I and his bike made horrible noise...it was the clutch springs that were weak rattling around....but the chain tensioner is the no-1 **** up on most bikes.

Is that what u ment or I might need to buy a new cam chain tensor? Sorry about the stupid questions I just don't know crap when it comes to these bikes.
