ok today went riding and my bike 01 f4i started to bog down and shut off ,then i noticed that it was when it got hot wormed up. it mainly did it when i clutched it up fast and coming down off breakies. any one know whats up. thanks.

Did the 01 have carburetors?

Kinda sounds like a fuel starvation issue of some sort.

Hard to understand from your post, but does it only do it when it is up to temperature?

 

no carbs. but ya when the bike warms up it starts to die when i clutch it up quick or come down off endo . the bike pulls idle fine with no problems like fluxing idle or runing rich.

 

ok so this what im doing to fix my problem .


- changing my fuel pump
-changing my wiring harness

so if it keeps go going im just fucked....

 

could be a bunch of things.

easiest thing to do is narrow it down. i wouldnt start out on huge things.

try checking all the hoses eg. crank case ventilation hoses, fuel return, throttle boddy hoeses. make sure they are all hooked up, and hooked up correctly. and check your senors!

if you have gauges, see if the gauges are giving you codes.
like go under the seat and there should be a wire plug that looks like a fuse would go there. well you put a "key" aka a wire. and then get see if the gauges are blinking. there are codes that could tell you what the problem is.

if you dont have the 500 page service manual to figure out the codes.. you can download them for free online lol.

could be stupid things like a bad stator, and your bike is running off the battery???

stupid things, then try moving to the bigger issues, like a fuel pump. but you should be able to hear that kick on when you turn the key.

just throwing some ideas out there bro.

 

no gauges and have checked most of the fuel lines and ther fine no kink of any thing . and bike has fun good for a long time . but im changing the fuel pump cause i have an extra and wiring. but how would i check sensors with no gauges and thanks.

 

get the gauges from albo for a day or 2.

 

I had the same problem and it ended up that my airbox became unseated from probobly slamming the bike in the pavement a few times and was pretty much starving the engine from any airflow...

 

i didnt think to check the air box but i will now thanks.

 

Are you saying it starts to bog when it gets really hot like 230+ ?? Does it do it when temp is below 220? Oh wait you dont have gauges....since your having bog issues when you clutch and come down Id say check your airbox to make sure its seated correctly and check your vac lines. Dont start changing pumps n wiring harnesses, do some diagnosis first. To me it sound like something simple.

yeah everybody, when his bike gets hot it bogs bad on fast clutch ups, also if he stalls he has to tip the bike on its side/cage for it to start and if its to hot like 220 you have to push start it or wait for it to cool down. i never seen it **** out coolant so i dont think its getiing to hot. when its hot it wont even try to crank over on the switch. if he presses it nothing happens, but when he lays it on its side it fires right up like normal. **** is fucked up. he got the cleanair-mod, and idle mod.

 

did you guys check the airbox being seated correctly? because i swear i had the exact same screwed up problem and thats what fixed it

 

ya . and not the problem ive whent over every wire and hose that i could and nothing . but my plugs hade oil on them kinda gunked so im going to change them .

 

ok update. my bike completely shut off when i clutched it up . and no i didn't just stale so im ******* dieing here.

 

mine did that randomly it was a wire getting grounded, double check wiring just to be safe. its easy to miss something

 

is your kickstand switch jumped, i remeber when my gsxr kickstand fell down and my bike would shut off.

 

thats the first thing i jumped when i got the bike.

 

ive got a complete harness coming but its pretty consistent so i dont know.
