ZZR600 street fighter problems.

When I get up to highway speeds, my carb'ed streetfighter starts to bog down and run bad, sometimes completely shutting off, even.

I like the bike, it's really comfortable for me being 6'4", and no one around here has a 954, so I'd like to keep it. Any tips for a newb to the streetfighter world?

I think it has something to do with the ram-air pipes if you have taken them off. I cant remember too well, but I know some bikes run bad if the ram-air tubes are taken off.

Re: ZZR600 street fighter problems.

Is there an airbox mod or something that I can do to remedy it?

i had this same problem too here is how is fixed it. there is teo tubes that come out of your air box. Pull the rubber boots out of the frame and what i did is took spray paint can tops wraped in tape to close off the holes in the frame but dont push them in to far to close that air the there is a litle hose that comes out from your carbed pull that off close to the air box this worked with my bike. any questions ask

Re: ZZR600 street fighter problems.

Aloha, Yeah I got a 2007 zzr600 that I bought as a parts bike but put it together to play with, anyway I did not have any of the fairings so I put it together kind of street fighter style, but I could not get it to run. It would bog down and want to die at about 4000 rpm and above while riding. Well after six months of trying to get it to run right and looking almost everywhere on the internet I found out what was wrong. Simple fix.

Basically if you are going to utilize the ram air after taking your front fairings off, meaning you are going to leave your rubber tubes sticking through the frame you need to take the tube that goes to your float bowl vent on the top of your carbs and put it in the airbox. What I did was drill a 5/8 hole in the front of the air box under the air filter and shoved the hose from the carbs vent into there about an inch. I also put a Dynojet carb kit in and is running 122 and 124 main jets with the needles on the second natch up from the bottom. The bike runs perfectly.

If you don't put the vent tube into the air box when you get going it pressurizes the airbox and pushes the gas back the wrong way through the main jet so it acts like it is running out of gas. So you haft to pressurize the float bowls to equalize the pressure. Hope this helps to the guys that may want to run there ram air with out running the fairings.
