**** this thing

ok 02 r6, ******* nothing but charging issues from day one, and once again, it left me walking anyhow, i got 3 diffrent regulators/rectifiers, all 3 will charge the system, but are getting hot as hell, which has been the problem in the past they get hot and melt the damn plug that it goes into, now when i unplug the r/r it will still run, my question, which i think i already know the answer just double checking, when i unplug the stator and put the meter on it, it's only pushing 10.2 volts wtf, thats not right, is it? it should be pushing out at least 12.0 volts? wtf changed regulator and stator, and replaced both plugs about 3000 miles ago, checked all the wiring, nothing seems to be fucked up, checked all the conection through out the whole system, and all seems fine, would the stator make my r/r hot becouse it's not pushing enough volts? and the r/r working extra hard to keep the system charging, now i mean i can ride it around like that, but it's just going to get hot and mlt the damn plug for the r/r again so just double checking myself before i spend 130.00 on a stator, it should be pushing at least 12. volts out?

Re: **** this thing

depends if you are testing it at idle Or above 3000 rpms. Above 3000 rpms it should be like 13.4 volts.

Re: **** this thing

Yeah check the stator.. have everything plugged up.. Turn the bike on and put the meter to the battery.. on idle it should be at like 13.3 or so.. when you give gas to about 5k rpm it should go up to about 13.8-14 or so... I know my f4i it melted the connection and it was a rectifier

Re: **** this thing

WITHOUT hte voltage regulator, your stator should put out 30-50 volts AC current between each of the 3 white wires.

With the voltage regulator hooked up, it should put out around 13.2-14.5v at 5k rpm

Voltage regulators get hot, thats how they work. If it doesn't get hot, it isn't working! It SHOULD be too hot to touch.. But if its melting wires, then its obviously bad, or your stator is overvolting.

ok well it's hot as hell, too hot to touch, and it does go up to 13ish, volts at the battery when at about 3000 rpms, but I wasn't sure it was suppost to get that hot. but since the rain has stopped i'm going to recheck the stator, just to see what the deal is

thanks guys.
