Big Float

its a 5-6 digit number, that looks like it is done by hand, its etched into the rear of the F4i engine block once above the factory engine serial number and then again below

for example: XY-187

two of my buddies F4i's have these, the service manual doesnt mention anything about it and it is definatley done by hand.

Im thinking its a engine specific serial number from the factory.

Is this something legit that shouldnt be messed with?

I think its from the factory to identify engine cases, and match cases together and ****

I know my friends engine had that ****, in 2 spots on the back, one on the upper case, one on the lower.. First I thought that ment that **** was stolen , but my bike has it too

i figure it cant be too offical its done by hand and not mentioned in the service manual.

is it a honda f4i thing, i didnt see one on my 954

reason im asking is dude just got this motor off ebay, so he doesnt know its background and it could be steamy or not, so he want too scrub this hand done number (not the engine serial number)off just in case. but if its something offical then it could bite him in the *** if he scrubs it
