What do I need to do?
What do I need to do?
Coming home from work My bike shuts off on me while 80 on the highway at night. i pulled over in the breakdown lane. i noticed I did not run out of gas which i thought was the reason. Before all this happened I noticed my two bulbs in my acerbis headlight were dimming while i was riding. I ignored them off coarse thinking it was the actual bulbs that were messed up. I tried starting my bike and all i got in return was a clicking sound....it didnt even turnover once. i noticed my headlight was dimming again. i push started it and got it running...went 20 feet ....bogged and died again. did it again and got the same result. I'm pretty sure its my battery but i was thinking could it be my alternator as well. i was riding for about 20 minutes before i got on the highway when my bike just bogged and died.
while sitting on the side of the highway for 30 minutes, somebody finally stops by with a truck and gives me and my bike a ride home.
What do you guys think?

Re: What do I need to do?
regulator/rectifier probably **** the bed and isn't charging your battery...
put your battery on a battery charger over night then start the bike and put a voltage meter on the battery , it should be 13.5 volts or higher when you rev it up ..
if it's not then you have a charging system problem and if you don't know how to check your stator or regulator then i suggest having some one check it for you so your not just buying parts and hoping you got it right

Re: What do I need to do?
You should have about 13-14.5v at about 3000rpm. If you have less than 12 your stator and/or rectifier/regulator is gone.
Get a voltmeter... you'll get ALOT of use out of it.
